Extravagant Generosity
Practicing Extravagant Generosity —
Daily Devotional Mediations for Spring Branch Presbyterian Church
Sunday, October 16, 2011
Introduction
During the next 4 weeks, we will explore the idea of Extravagant Generosity and how God uses our giving to change the church, our lives and the world. You will be sent a daily devotional by email, or you can find it on the church’s website. The daily scripture passages and some of the reflections are based on the booklet, Practicing Extravagant Generosity, Daily Readings on the Grace of Giving by Robert Schnase. You are also being mailed a letter with a Heart Card. On these Sundays: October 23rd, 30th and November 6th and 13th you are asked to return your com-pleted card at the worship service so that your ideas, memories and thoughts can be shared with others in the church. You may also share your thoughts on the church’s blog site. Through praying, reading and reflecting on the same passages as a community of faith, it is hoped, we will develop a unified sense of purpose and clarity of mission. Each of us participating with an open heart will help open the doors of Spring Branch Presbyterian Church’s continuation of our Vision 2013 and beyond.
Let our prayer be this:
Dear God,
We give thanks to you who is unselfish beyond all reasonable expectations and we give thanks to You for the abundance in our lives. In the days ahead, as we meditate together with open hearts, we ask to be guided by the Spirit to practice extravagant generosity in our lives in order that we may bear good fruit, glorifying your Son, Jesus Christ in the world. Amen.
