Learn more about the “Messiah” at Spring Branch Pres

Posted on November 14, 2013

On December 15, the Chancel Choir will present Part I of George Fredrick Handel’s “Messiah”.  You may have heard many performances of “Messiah” over the years, but what do you know about Handel and the time in which he lived?  What do you know about the style period in which he wrote “Messiah”?  What do you know about the text that was used for this masterpiece of choral music?

Our organist, Kerry Talley, has designed three classes to explore all of these topics and to give you  new insight into this work.  On December 1, December 8, and December 22, Mr. Talley will teach a course on “Messiah” from 9:30 am until 10:15 am in the sanctuary.

Everyone is invited to come to learn more about Handel, the Baroque Era, and “Messiah”.
