Advent is here!
This Sunday is the First Sunday in Advent! Our theme this year is “The World is about to Turn.” Advent includes the four weeks before Christmas- beginning on the First Sunday of those weeks. Advent is a time when we expect, prepare, sing, and love as we wait the coming of Jesus Christ- who came as a child born in a manger, who comes into the midst of our busy lives each day, and who is coming again as promised!
During these Sundays in Advent, families are encouraged to begin worship with their nursery-age children as the Children’s Moment will be a part of the lighting of the Advent Wreath at the beginning of worship.
Our Advent Party will be Wednesday December 3rd at 5:30 pm. Come for fellowship, an international meal, and seasonal mission opportunities, including alternative Christmas gifts– we hope to see you there!
All are invited to the Academy Christmas Pageant on Wednesday December 10th: “Mary had a Little Lamb…that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!” Dinner will be served at 5:30pm and showtime is at 6!
Our Christmas Joy Offering will be collected on December 14th. This special offering provides opportunities for deserving students to attend Presbyterian-related colleges and schools. It will also provide critical financial assistance to retired church workers and their families. Let us give generously and shine the One True Light of Christ’s love!
Advent devotionals have arrived! Austin Seminary devotionals as well as child-appropriate devotionals and Advent family activity cards are available for pickup in the narthex and church office!
Our December Missions of the Month are Angel Tree Prison Ministries and PCHAS. There is a blue tub outside of the church office for nonperishable food items for Angel Tree. Angel tree tags with children’s Christmas wishes and ornaments for purchase that will benefit PCHAS will be available beginning at the Advent Party– see Pres Press for more details!
