Palm Sunday: “Do We Believe? Part 6: The Faithful Church”

Posted on April 5, 2020

Good Morning,
Our Palm Sunday Sermon for this morning is the next in our series about The Apostles’ Creed and is about the Faithful Church. Our Scripture Lessons are from Revelations 19:1-9 and Matthew 21:1-11.

“Do We Believe? Part 6: The Faithful Church”

“I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church; the communion of saints…”

Rev. Dr. Kevin R. Boyd

Comments are enabled on the Church Website, Facebook, and YouTube so that we can react to this morning’s message and share prayer concerns. You do not have to have a YouTube or Facebook account to view the video. If you do not have a Facebook or YouTube account, you can post comments on the church website, or you can call or email Kevin to share any prayers concerns that are on your heart this morning.

Announcements & News:

  • Information about our Holy Week services will be shared as it becomes available. Be on the lookout for emails about how we will worship as a community as we continue through this Lenten season.
  • Thank you to everyone that has been contributing to the church in the absence of our usual Presentation of Tithes and Offerings on Sunday mornings. Don’t forget that the church expenses continue just the same. If at all possible, please mail in your contributions, or use the online giving option (www.springbranchpres.org/give).
  • We will have Easter Lilies this year! You can place your order by contacting Ethan Mitchell via email, calling the church office and leaving a voicemail (713-464-7659), or using this Google Form through Friday, April 10th. The cost is $10 each, and payments can be mailed to the church office. The names of those being remembered or honored will be shared with the congregation on Easter Sunday morning.
  • Thank you to everyone that came to our Drive-Thru Wednesday Night Supper this past week. A total of 104 donations were collected for the Fair Haven Food Pantry. This week is Honk for Hamburgers! Watch for more details and information for placing your order.
  • Thank you to Kate Cross for organizing the two Virtual Wednesday Night Suppers that we’ve had so far! Miguel will be “hosting” our virtual WNS this week. Watch for more details of how to join.
  • You are invited to be a Pen Pal! If you are an adult and would like to connect with one of the kids in our congregation as a pen pal, you’re invited. If you are one of our kids (or their parents for the younger ones) who would like to also be a pen pal, you, too, are invited! Writing notes and letters to each other is a wonderful way to stay connected and deepen relationships. It is also a great way to keep and sharpen those literacy and fine motor skills (don’t tell the kids!!). Younger children can draw something and the parent can then write what the child tells them. The idea is for this to be on-going and as interactive as possible. If you have any questions, contact Denise Wilborn at faithdevelopment@springbranchpres.org. Please complete the information requested so kids and adults can be partered as pen pals [link].
  • Unfortunately, the PCHAS Luncheon on April 16th has been canceled, but they still need your donations! You can donate on their website at the following link.
  • Scholarship Applications are now available for interested students. Completed applications are due by May 1st for the year applying, and should be turned in to Sarah Dikeman for the Women’s Scholarship and Ken Crawford for the Men’s Scholarship.
