Palm Sunday, March 28th: “Purple Daze, Part 6: Purple Passion”
Greetings, brothers and sisters in Christ,
Our plan for Palm Sunday was to worship outdoors. However, after meeting several times today, we have decided to move the worship service indoors. This is entirely due to weather concerns. While the weather forecast has improved for the 10:00 hour, the concern is that storms are expected prior to that time. Unlike other services, this was to be not just a drive-in. We were going to be setting up chairs in the parking lot, which may have considerable water on it. The winds are expected to be quite strong, which is also a problem with PA equipment. Further, there is a lot of setup involved. This would mean quite probably setting up electronic equipment in the rain and puddles. We were hoping to have this service outdoors because more people indicated they would feel confident to come if so. I regret that we are not able to accommodate those folks for Sunday. Please pray for our church and our Palm Sunday services. This will be a wonderful time of worship and will also be on our regular YouTube spot. I hope to see you all tomorrow, one way or the other.
Grace and Peace,
Kevin Boyd, Pastor
SBPC will hold in-person Worship at 10:00 AM in the Sanctuary tomorrow morning. By attending, you are agreeing to follow the guidelines set forth for a safe return, primarily, wearing a mask at all times while indoors. Those guidelines are available at www.springbranchpres.org/covid-19-guidelines.
Before Leaving Home
Prior to coming to Sunday School or to worship, please ask yourself these questions. If any of your answers to the questions are “yes”, please stay home. You can join Sunday School via Zoom (The Explorers will offer Zoom for their class and Saints Under Construction for those choosing to participate from home); and worship via live stream!
- Have you or any person with whom you live, experienced any of the following symptoms of COVID-19 or any of these situations in the preceding 72 hours?
- Fever of 100.4°F or higher, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, vomiting or diarrhea
- In the last 14 days, have you been in direct contact with someone currently positive for COVID-19?
- Have you, or someone with whom you live recently been tested and received the results? Were any of the results positive?
- Are you, or someone with whom you live with awaiting COVID-19 test results?
The Time For Young Disciples will be a part of our Worship Service tomorrow morning. Now that we have moved indoors, unfortunately, our Time For Young Disciples will be viewed from the pews. Ms. Patty still looks forward to seeing all of you! After the service concludes, the pre-recorded video will be available on our Facebook and YouTube pages.
We are asking everyone to consider wearing purple each Sunday in Lent, whether you are worshiping in-person or virtually.
Every week, the service will be streamed live to the SBPC YouTube Channel. You can access the direct link for the March 28th Worship Service stream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hys_aTepgfs.
