A Call to Faith Introduction

Posted on April 20, 2011

For a decade from the 1950s to 1960s, one of the charter members and elders of the church, Matthew M. Dikeman, Sr. led a highly popular adult education sunday school class and bible study on faith and christianity at Spring Branch Presbyterian Church. Matt Dikeman, Sr. raised his family in the church, and passed away in 1985.

But Matt left a legacy for Spring Branch Pres to bring to the online world and evangelize the Word of God. Every Saturday he would patiently write and type out original lecture and lessons for the next Sunday. Thanks to his daughter Lu Taylor, we have nearly 300 pages, years worth of these patiently and diligently compiled lessons on faith from the early days of OUR church. We are proud to bring them here for you, serialized online christian education. A close read will see that they are still very relevant to today’s traveler in faith. And we hope they will broaden your understanding of the Word of God and God’s Purpose for you.

Matt would certainly not have envisioned the web and how we would spread his writings online, but he certainly would have approved of evangelizing and learning in faith.  And it is only fitting the first series begins for Easter Sunday 2011, nearly 50 years after the class ended, and in the 25th year since his passing.

– Neal Dikeman, member of Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, and grandson of Matt Dikeman, Sr.

Our first lesson is A Call to Faith, 13 Lessons, which we will serialize into two to three serials per Lesson.
