AN INVITATION FROM THE 2011-2012 NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The 2011-2012 Spring Branch Presbyterian Church Nominating Committee invites members of the church to suggest names of individuals to be considered to ask to serve as ruling elders and Academy Board members. Each position is a three year commitment. Ruling elders will begin training in March and will be ordained/installed in June. Academy Board members will be train-ed by the Academy Board and will begin serving June 1, 2012. We ask that names be submitted to the Nominating Committee no later than January 5th at 6 pm. Names may be submitted to the moderator, Marguerite Priest, at mepriest@hotmail.com or by placing them in a sealed envelope addressed to the Nominating Committee.
The descriptions of the offices are:
Ruling Elder: “…are chosen by the congregation to discern and measure its fidelity to the Word of God, and to strengthen and nurture its faith and life. Ruling Elders together with the teaching elders, exercise leadership, government, spiritual discernment, and discipline and have respon-sibilities for the life of a congregation as well as the whole church, including ecumenical re-lationships.“ (2011-2013 Book of Order G-2.0301)
Academy Board: Responsible to the session, the Academy Board oversees the operations of Spring Branch Presbyterian Academy with its director. The Board is responsible for maintaining the mission of the church through this ministry following the guidelines of the church’s mission statement and governances.
