AN INVITATION FROM THE NOMINATING COMMITTEE
The Nominating Committee invites members of the church to suggest names for consideration to serve as Ruling Elders and Academy Board members. Each leadership position is for a three year commitment that begins in June 2014. Please suggest names for these leadership positions to the church office or to Lu Taylor, the Nominating Committee Chair BY NOVEMBER 11th
Ruling Elders:
“Together with the pastor, they exercise leadership, government and discipline, Academy Board: Responsible to the session, the Academy Board members have oversight . The description for each office of leadership includes and have responsibilities for the life of a particular church as well as the church at large, including ecumenical relationships….Elders should be persons of faith, dedication, and good judgment. Their manner of life should be a demonstration of the Christian gospel, both in the church and in the world. It is the duty of elders, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge.” (Book of Order,G-6.0300)
Academy Board:
Responsible to the session, the Academy Board members have oversight of the Academy with the Academy Director. The Board maintains this ministry in line with the church’s mission.
