Coffee and Cookies at HCC
On Tuesday SBPC served 137 cups of coffee to students taking finals at Houston Community College. We also were able to treat them to homemade cookies, brownies, and cupcakes. It was a great event and the students were so appreciative. When they learned that the refreshments were free and the cookies homemade, asked “who made the cookies?” and “why are you guys here?” This was a great opportunity to tell them aboutour church, the ladies that made the cookies, and to inite them to Christmas in the Park on Sunday.
Thank you to all who made cookies for Cookies Galore, your generosity spilled over into this giveaway. Thank you to Beverly Davidson who made more sweets so that we would have twenty dozen treats to share with these exhausted students. Thanks to Chuck Davidson for making contact with the folks at HCC. Thanks to Laurey Murphy, Jeff and Megan Hogg for bringing their bright shining selves, asking the students about their classes, and comiserating over the stress of finals. Thanks to Jeremy and Kate Cross for organizing the coffee, and to the Fellowship Committee for not being frustrated when the pot wasn’t there early for Wednesday Night Supper the next day.
We plan to host the event again during Spring exams. Please let Kate Cross know if you’d be interested in covering a shift, providing treats, or creating a postcard have available for the students to remember who we are and why we were there (because God first loved us).
