Colorado Mission Trip Reflections
The group that spent a week in Leadville, Colorado, experienced God though hard work mixed with fun and time in God’s awesome natural wonders.
The focus of the trip was mission to the Leadville, Colorado community and surrounding area. First Presbyterian Church of Leadville, through Sarah Savage, arranged what was quickly referred to as a ―Mystery Mission Week.‖ Each day there was something new to do, including staining a fence at a women’s shelter, yard work for church shut-ins, yard work at the church, and re-wiring the sound system at the church. The youth and college students prepared a ―Blessing of the House‖ service for the women’s shelter which became a very emotional experience for the group and the shelter’s occupants and employees.
When not working, the group took a train ride and did some hiking through the great Colorado Rocky Mountains. The group watched a beautiful sunset from Mt. Veneer and stared at the stars in a sky that showed even more stars than can be seen in the Mo-Ranch sky in Kerrville.
The group is thankful for the support of the church that allowed for this amazing trip, and grateful for Jan and Gerald Fitts for providing not just transportation, but leadership, assistance, and friendship.
