“Do We Believe? Part 5: Christ and Judgement”

Posted on March 28, 2020

Grace, Peace, and Mercy to you this morning,
The Sermon for today is the next in our series about The Apostles’ Creed, and is about Christ and Judgement. Our Scripture Lessons for this morning come to us from Psalm 96:9-10 and Acts 17:29-32.
“Do We Believe? Part 5: Christ and Judgement”
“…He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.”
Rev. Dr. Kevin R. Boyd

Announcements & News:
  • Thank you to everyone that has been giving to the church in the absence of our usual Presentation of the Offerings on Sunday mornings. Don’t forget that the church expenses continue just the same. If at all possible, please mail in your contributions, or use the online giving option (www.springbranchpres.org/give). Thank you for your continued commitment!
  • The Worship & Faith Development Teams purchased adult and family devotionals for the season of Lent. If you would like one or both of these devotionals and didn’t have the chance to pick them up before we started worshiping digitally, please email the church office to let us know that you would like to receive them. You can request multiple copies of both the adult and family devotionals. Once you have contacted us, the desired devotionals will be mailed to your home address. The April/May/June Edition of “These Days” has arrived. If you would like a copy of this devotional mailed to you, please email us with that information as well.
  • Thank you to everyone that came to our first Drive-Thru Wednesday Night Supper this past week, and thank you to those who helped make it possible! Make plans to pick up Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Baked Beans, Pickles and Onion Slices, Coleslaw or Applesauce, and Dessert this Wednesday night. Please place your order with Ethan via email. Please include if you would like Coleslaw or Applesauce for the meals requested. The dinner will be free, but we are asking that you bring at least one donation for the Fair Haven Food Pantry (non-perishable food items, paper goods, cleaning products, etc.).
  • Articles for the April 2020 Edition of the PresPress are due to Ethan tomorrow, Monday, March 30th. If you are moving your classes, Bible studies, events, or meetings to a video conferencing platform, we’d love to include that information. We’d also like to include a collage of words of encouragement, school projects, artwork, activities, home projects, and pictures taken and completed while at home. Please email pictures or scans to Ethan Mitchell.
  • We will have Easter Lilies this year, whether we are able to gather in the Sanctuary or not! You can place your order by contacting Ethan Mitchell via email, calling the church office and leaving a voicemail (713-464-7659), or using this Google Form through April 10th. The cost is $10 each. Please mail payments to the church office. The names of those being remembered or honored will be shared with the congregation on Easter Sunday morning. If we are unable to gather in person, the lilies will be delivered to your house by your neighbors at SBPC.
  • Unfortunately, the PCHAS Luncheon on April 16th has been canceled, but they still need your donations! You can donate on their website at the following link.
  • Scholarship Applications are now available for interested students. Completed applications are due by May 1st for the year applying, and should be turned in to Sarah Dikeman for the Women’s Scholarship and Ken Crawford for the Men’s Scholarship.
