Memory Care Activities and Respite for the Caregiver
What is the Gathering Place?
The Gathering Place of Spring Branch Presbyterian Church is a ministry for those who are living with memory loss and the people who love and care for them at home. The Gathering Place provides three hours of fun activities and fellowship in a safe and caring environment for persons with memory loss. Programs may include activities such as music, games, chair exercises, crafts, reminiscing, guest performer and a light lunch. Caregivers may enjoy a few hours of free time or they may choose to participate along with their partner.
Who is eligible?
This volunteer-based ministry provides fellowship to those in the church and in the community who are in the early to moderate stages of dementia. There is no cost to the family for this program. If you have a family member with mild to moderate memory loss who might benefit from this program, please contact us at gatheringplace@springbranchpres.org.
What kind of volunteer do we need?
Kind, calm, and caring. Possible positions are greeters, crafters, kitchen helpers, companions, timekeepers.
When do we meet?
Gathering Place meets once a month on the third Monday.
