SPECIAL BEGINNINGS FOR LENT

The Ash Wednesday Celebration will be this Wednesday, March 5th at 5:45 pm. Supper will be “Soul Food” and include fried chicken, Hoppin’ John, green beans, cornbread, peach cobbler and banana pudding.  At 6:15 pm a “Gospel Mass” will be presented by the choir (A different way to begin Lent and will conclude with the marking of the ash cross).

A  Half Day Lenten Retreat will be Tuesday, March 11th from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at Villa De Matel and includes lunch.  A van will leave from the church at 8:30 am. The retreat will be led by Robert Westheimer, and is limited to 10 people, sign up with Laurey Murphy by Monday, March 3.

A “Shiner” Retreat for Youth:  Beginning at 12:00 pm, Sunday, March 16th through Monday, March 17th at 5:00 pm.  Let by Pat Clark at the Clark Ranch.  Advisors:  Patty Blome, Laurey Murphy.  Sign up with Jeannie Stockton.

Congratulations to Melissa Balli and Manuel Rendon, who were married yesterday in our sanctuary.

You are invited to St. Thomas Presbyterian Church  (14100 Memorial Drive at 3:30 PM to meet one of the first graduates and one of the directors from the HAND in HAND School in Jerusalem.  It is a Middle East Peacemaking initiative being an intentional Jewish Palestian School.  Our presbytery is sending a Volunteer in Mission for a year to serve there.  For more information on the school, go to http://www.handinhandk12.org.
