Thank you for your generosity!
The group serving in the Rio Grande Valley this week with CUPS is halfway finished.
No doubt they’ll have more pictures and stories to tell with their return.
In the meantime, we hope you know that your generosity went with them as well, through some pretty creative giving:
Many of the school supplies our group will take to Louise Flippin come from teachers who have to clean out their classrooms at the end of the school year, instead of going in the trash these supplies are getting a second life! These included many boxes of new crayons, #2 pencils, pens, scissors for the young and for the little older elementary child. There are compasses, protractors, rulers, unopened packs of notebook paper, spiral notebooks wide ruled and college ruled, and notebooks for those learning to write for the first time. There is even a box of items for a play corner that include small purses, hats, gloves and a few other dress-up items.
Our blood donors also pooled their “Commit For Life” store points together to send nine brand new backpacks for CUPS to distribute along the Texas-Mexico border to families and schools in need.
Another important item that has been generously given are books — story books, Spanish/English dictionaries, story books in English, story books in Spanish, books in both languages, science books in both languages. These books will help the schools with their libraries which always enriches education. There is even a book about dinosaurs.
Thank you again for your generosity!
