The Colors of Lent
We continue to prepare ourselves using various colors of Lent. This fourth week of Lent, let’s think about the color Blue, which represents Faith and Nurturing the Young.
Faith includes our recognition that we are made in God’s image, that we are gifted and talented people, and that each one of us has a special and unique role to fulfill to God’s plan. Faith leads us to accept that role, even if the scenario includes pain and darkness in our lives.
By honoring Jesus, we know God also honors all those who nurture children. Because our faith includes belief in the intrinsic value of all human beings, we recognize the importance of youth, our hope for the future. All adults, not just parents, must accept the responsibility to serve as examples and mentors for the young and to offer them support and encouragement.
A Blue Lent provides a good opportunity for us to look at our lives, to recognize our responsibility to nurture the young and to deepen our faith in the future.
Prayer
During my journey “into the wild”, remind me to be faithful and nurture the young each time I see the color Blue. Give each of Your children the strength to hold their faith in you and to keep alive their joy in Your creation. Amen.
