Sunday, September 27th: “A Season of Peace, Part 4: Together on Purpose”

Posted on September 27, 2020

Good Morning!

Our message for today is the final installment in our “A Season of Peace” series. The Scripture Readings are from Exodus 17:1-7 and Philipians 2:1-14.

“A Season of Peace, Part 4: Together on Purpose”

Rev. Dr. Kevin R. Boyd

Our Worship Service this morning will be accessible beginning at 10:45 AM. The Worship Team is trying to create a sense of fellowship in worship, even during these times of being socially distant. Our hope is that people will view the service at the same time as one another (10:45), and then join together afterward for a Virtual Narthex where people can join in fellowship and sharing with one another. We miss seeing everyone’s smiling faces and would love to catch up about what is going on in everyone’s lives. If you are unavailable at 10:45, you will still be able to view the service later in the day or later in the week.

At 10:45 AM, the Worship Service will premiere below:

A Zoom Link for joining the Virtual Narthex at the conclusion of the Worship Service has been sent via email.

Our Time For Young Disciples for this morning will be a part of our 10:45 AM Worship Service. After the service has concluded, the Time For Young Disciples will be available below. Mrs. Patti looks forward to seeing you!

Announcements & News:

  • You are invited to attend Pastor’s Bible Study with Kevin! The group gathers on Zoom on Tuesday mornings at 11:00 AM. Watch your email for details of on how to join this study. We hope to see you there!
  • Join us for our next Drive-Thru WNS this week at 6:00 PM. On the menu are Baked Potatoes with all of the trimmings and taco meat, salad, and brownies. This meal is sponsored by the Presbyterian Women, and all proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund! Contact secretary@springbranchpres.org to place your dinner order. The dinner will be free, but we are accepting donations. We are also accepting donations for the Fair Haven Food Pantry (non-perishable food items, cleaning supplies, and paper products), and cards for our dedicated Houston healthcare workers. Per the request of the hospitals, please do not seal the envelopes.
  • Save-the-Date for our next Drive-In Service! We will gather in the parking lot next Sunday, October 4th at 9:30 AM. We will be celebrating World Communion Sunday, and our brothers and sisters in Christ from CENTI Church will be joining us. We hope to see you there!

  • If you have articles that you would like to submit for the October 2020 Edition of the PresPress, please do so ASAP. Articles can be sent to ethan@springbranchpres.org or secretary@springbranchpres.org
  • An Invitation to Colleagues in Ministry – Brenham Presbyterian Church invites you to a new educational opportunity on Sunday afternoons beginning September 27 at 1:30 p.m. The study will be led by Rev. Kristin Galle based on the book, “Sermon on the Mount” by Amy Jill Levine. Please email Carol Davis (caroldavis@entouch.net) or Denise Wilborn (faithdevelopment@springbranchpres.org) for information and the Zoom link to participate in the study.  You can order a physical book on-line, or an electronic copy by Kindle or Nook, or even through your local library. • Presbytery of New Covenant: Movie Conversation – RBG. The next movie conversation will be on Monday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m. With the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday, September 18, we will look at her amazing life and legacy. There are a couple of choices of movies to select from. “RBG” is the documentary, and “On the Basis of Sex” was a fictionalization of her arguing the case in front of the Supreme Court. Watch whatever you can. She is an important figure in our history for women’s rights. Please register to receive the zoom link for the conversation.
  • The October | November | December Edition of the These Days daily devotionals have arrived! If you would like a copy of this devotional mailed to you, please contact secretary@springbranchpres.org, or call the Church Office and leave a voicemail.
  • Thank you to everyone that has been contributing to the church in the absence of our usual Presentation of Tithes & Offerings on Sunday mornings. Don’t forget that the church expenses continue just the same. If at all possible, please mail contributions, drop off your offering in a sealed envelope to the mailbox in front of the education building, or use the online giving option (www.springbranchpres.org/give).

Blessings, Spring Branch Presbyterian Church
